Achieving results through others is reliant on a leader’s ability to work with and through other people. Leaders who communicate more effectively with others in a variety of situations build relationships and trust faster, and at higher levels. This module covers essential communication techniques to facilitate productive and respectful conversations.

To create an understanding of key communication techniques and how use of them will positively influence results, respect, and relationships.

After completing this program, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the foundational importance of listening
  • Identify barriers to effective listening
  • Describe the Ladder of Inference model and how it can be used to improve listening and communication
  • State the elements of Discussion Skills and how they are used to manage conversations
  • Create Clarifying and Confirming questions
  • Create empathic statements that encourage understanding and trust
  • Recall the steps for Managing a Difference
  • Name the methods for Exploring Ideas and when each is appropriate
  • Deliver 2 types of Feedback for sustaining and improving performance
