Understanding Your Organization’s Responsibilities and Compliance Obligations
| Topic-Human Resources | Topic-HRCI |Topic-SHRM
Affirmative Action is intended to remedy past and current effects of workplace discrimination. It differs from Equal Employment Opportunity in that it entails more than passive nondiscrimination. Affirmative Action is a proactive approach to eliminating workplace inequity and can be a helpful step toward creating a more diverse and inclusive organization. Staying in compliance with government regulations entails examining and modifying your organization through a number of processes and procedures.
Your organization may be
by the federal government to create and implement an Affirmative Action Plan (AAP) if you have at least 50 employees and $50,000 in federal contracts or subcontracts. This can be an overwhelming process even for the most seasoned HR professionals. It is not only important to create the written plan (with statistical analyses and narrative descriptions) but also to follow through with fully implementing the program. This course is designed to help you understand your responsibilities and obligations.
To provide participants an overview of developing and implementing a compliant Affirmative Action Plan.
After completing this course, participants will be able to:
Describe the motivation guiding Affirmative Action.
Identify the components of a compliant AAP.
List three roles & responsibilities of an Affirmative Action Employer.
Identify existing challenges regarding compliance with Federal Contractors’ obligations.
HR professionals, HR specialists, EEO Coordinators, and anyone involved in the creation and implementation of your organization’s Affirmative Action Plans (AAP).
