This two-part workshop addresses compliance with various Michigan and federal employment laws from a legal perspective. The program covers employment legal requirements and recent legal workplace developments, and offers insight into following these employment laws without compromising a positive workplace climate or sinking into familiar legal pitfalls.

Participants will engage in facilitated conversations and apply legal information to real world scenarios in order to build skills and understand the perspective of all parties involved.

Topics;

Week 1: Part A, ½ day 

  • Review wage and hour/leave laws and the latest legal updates
  • Build skills to address real-world scenarios
  • Discuss culture building and legal ramifications of false steps

Week 2: Part B, ½ day 

  • Review discrimination/harassment, marijuana, and technology in the workplace and the latest legal updates
  • Build skills to address real-world scenarios
  • Discuss culture building and legal ramifications of false steps
