This program provides leaders, managers and supervisors an up-to-date overview of Employment Law with the focus on the practical business behaviors and management skills that leaders need to deal with the real-life issues they face when managing in today's workplace.

Course Goal
Provide an overview of the implications for managers of key employment laws in today’s workplace.

Course Objectives
After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Familiarize the management team with areas of employment law that arise during the management of employees and identify situations that can trigger employment laws.
  • Prepare managers to respond when potential employment law compliance issues arise in their departments.
  • Familiarize the management team with the legal differences that classify jobs as exempt or non-exempt.
  • Review the importance of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) as it applies to an employee’s work schedule and the Company’s requirements to pay for time spent working, traveling for business, etc.
