Learning to Listen
Effective listening is the key to successful interactions with others and is the single most important skill of successful leaders. This session will utilize a Learning to Listen assessment which focuses on both the visible and invisible aspects of listening behavior and measures listening skill in 3 dimensions: Staying Focused, Capturing the Message, and Helping the Speaker. This class focuses on concrete behaviors allowing participants to immediately take action on their listening strengths and weaknesses and create an action plan for improvement. The result is employees who are better equipped to handle customer complaints, negotiating contracts, managing teams, and more.
To help participants learn the power of effective and active listening and its impact on leadership
After completing this course, participants will be able to:
Stay Focused, Capture the Message, and Help the Speaker when listening.
Identify common barriers to effective listening and how to overcome these barriers.
Utilize a Ladder of Inference tool to identify when personal biases are negatively impacting listening.
Paraphrase and use questioning techniques in order to be a more active listener.
Anyone who wants to improve interpersonal interactions to be better equipped to work with co-workers, handle customer complaints, negotiate contracts, manage teams, and more.
